1951 - 2000

Lucy Hartwick of Hemlock passed away early Sunday, December 3, 2000 at her mother’s home after a lengthy illness.  Age 49 years.  Lucy was born January 17, 1951 in Saginaw and graduated from Douglas MacArthur High School.  She had been employed by Riverside Animal Clinic and later with Sears for about 20 years.  She also operated a pet grooming business and Thistlewood Farms, boarding and breeding horses and Labrador Retrievers.  She was a member of the American Quarterhorse Association and volunteered with the Humane Society.  Her father, Arthur Hartwig, predeceased her in September of 1999.  Surviving are her mother, Esther B. (Poellet) Hartwig, Saginaw; three sisters, Ardith and her husband, Larry Akers, Greenbush; Nettie Medendorp, Decatur, Alabama; Donna Karas, Warren; eight nieces and nephews and their families; several aunts, uncles and cousins.  She also leaves many dear friends, including Debbie Furlo of Saginaw.

Funeral service will take place 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 6, 2000 at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road.  Rev. Robert Eggers will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.  Friends may call at the chapel from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider VNA/Hospice: Partners in Caring, the Humane Society, or the American Cancer Society.
