James P. Lynch
1951 - 2008

Lynch, James Paul "Jim" Bay City, Michigan James (Jim) Lynch died on August 22, 2008 at the age of fifty seven. He died in his sleep, of an apparent heart attack. He is survived by his daughter Bridget and her husband Lenny Walters and their four children, Sidney 13, Malcolm 11, Henry 9 and Jane 6. He is also survived by his parents Margaret and Frederick Lynch of Ann Arbor and three sisters, Amy Lynch (Anthony Carubba), Rev. Suzelle Lynch (Young Kim) and Eileen Lynch (Heather Kohser) as well as one niece, Grace Kim. He is also survived by his friend and former wife, Terry Lynch. Jim was a 1969 graduate of Douglas Mac Arthur High School, Saginaw Township, where he played football and excelled in drama. He was employed by General Motors Co., Saginaw Grey Iron Plant for twenty nine years, retiring in 2000. Jim loved spending time with his grandchildren, hiking in the woods, fishing, visiting with family and friends. He read widely with interests in science, astronomy, history as well as politics and Native American culture. Jim always loved music and played the cornet in his youth, later turning to the guitar. He often composed pieces for the guitar and loved listening to music, especially the blues. Always a free spirit, Jim found great joy in riding his new motor scooter. A Memorial in celebration of his life will be held at 5 PM on September 22nd, the Autumnal Equinox, in respect for Jim's interest in the cosmos, at Squires Chapel, 211 N. Henry, Bay City. The service will be led by Rev. Gail Geisenhainer of First Unitarian Universalist Church, Ann Arbor. Friends may visit from 4:30 to 5 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the American Diabetes Association.
