Passed away Friday, August 29, 1997. Age 46 years. John Scott Sheldon was born August 25, 1951 in Saginaw to William D. and H. Jeanne (Smith) Sheldon. He married Sharon Shurtz on April 26, 1986. She survives him. Mr. Sheldon was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church of Gladwin. He was an avid outdoorsman and was a member of the Bay County Conservation Club, the Tri-State Locomotive Club, and was a licensed E.M.T. He retired from U.S.F. Holland trucking in 1994.
Surviving besides his wife he leaves two sons, John Sheldon Jr. of Phoenix, Arizona; Christopher Sheldon of Beaverton; two stepchildren, Allen Smith of Mt. Pleasant, Marci Belert of Holland, Mich; four grandsons; Karl and Joseph Belert, Edward Smith, and Christopher Sheldon Jr.; 20 nieces and nephews; three sisters and one brother, William D. Sheldon Jr. of Okemos; Judy Jagels of Saginaw; Marti Soper of Farmington Hills, and Jill Spaulding of Reese; many other loving family members and friends.
Funeral service will take place 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 2, 1997 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 3235 W. Clendening Rd. in Gladwin. Pastor Timothy Verity will officiate with interment to follow at Billings Township Cemetery on Estey Rd. Friends are welcome to call on the family at the Reitz-Herzberg Funeral Home, 1550 Midland Rd., Saginaw on Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial offerings may be given to the American Brain Tumor Association or the charity of choice.
